A Hollywood star named Douglas Brown awakens to discover that he is being blackmailed by a stranger. To resolve the issue, he contacts his agency Jack Girardi, who then contacts Hollywood private investigator Frank Manascalpo. Frank initially succeeds well, but he picks the wrong partner. He meets up with budding writer/director Max O’Leary, who believes in error that Douglas Brown would be interested in making his movie based on the increased attention he is getting. He refuses. Max ultimately receives his big break in Hollywood. Unfortunately, he will have to commit murder in order to obtain it.
