Ji-woo is an outsider in a wealthy private high school who does not fit in with his wealthy friends because of his unusual social circumstances. He eventually meets Hak-sung, the security guard at the school who is actually a mathematical prodigy who defected from North Korea and is now keeping his background hidden. Ji-woo requests that Hak-sung teach him math, and after initially being hesitant, Hak-sung finally agrees. Ji-woo and Hak-sung open up to one another during their special math lessons, where they meet in their most trying times. However, their friendship is put in jeopardy when Ji-woo is accused of being involved in an incident at school and Hak-sung is subjected to people asking about his past.
